Shop Training
Each section of the training course builds on the learning from the previous section and focuses on different aspects to further improve your knowledge. Once the classroom part of the course has been completed, students progress onto shop training.
Shop training will advance the students’ welding knowledge and skills to enable them to weld in flat vertical, horizontal and overhead positions. The course conforms to AWS D15.2 Standards and follows a practical, hands-on training approach designed to build confidence. Training within the workshop environment encourages students to explore further what can and cannot be done. It introduces new concepts and demonstrates actual welding methods. There is no substitute for the hands-on skills offered in workshop training, as it provides a chance to try out new methods under safe and supervised conditions.
Shop training includes:
- Preparation of track components for repair welding
- Air arc gouging and grinding
- Proper pre and post welding procedures
- Welding techniques on track components
- Repair welding on track components with wire and stick
- Proper finish grinding of track components
All parts of the training course must be completed.
